Article excerpt

Since the last issue of Scottish Literary Review, I have curated a special, retrospective, online issue of the journal, entitled History, Literature, Memory, to celebrate ten years of our periodical under its present name. The online issue can be found here: muse.jhu.edu/issue/40948

SLR 11:2., this current publication, contains a wide range of topics from a wide range of international contributors. This is testimony yet again to the fruitfulness of our scholarly area of Scottish Literature. In the face of the academic exercise of 'Research Excellence Framework' (2021) and as the young twenty-first century matures, the mission of SLR remains to boldly go where the subject has not been before and to seek out new ideas and approaches, to present these in an academic and accessible way. This publication is one of a number of ways in which the Association for Scottish Literary Studies performs sterling service for the subject. In citations of SLR material (aided and abetted by the online availability of the journal on Project MUSE), in and beyond Scotland, in student and in published work, the journal is manifestly having a large impact.

This is my last issue as Editor of Scottish Literary Review. …
