WebCT has announced the Institute Program for colleges and universities who are leading the way in distance education. The Institutes will serve as campus-based regional outreach centers to meet the growing demand for faculty training on the use of the powerful WebCT course tools. All WebCT Institutes share a commitment to creating exceptional Web-based or Web-enhanced instruction, and must have proven track records in hosting WebCT courses, providing faculty development and support and conducting research to advance Web instruction. Microsoft Corp. has announced that college and university faculty members are invited to apply for the Microsoft 2000 Instructional Grant Program and share their innovative uses of technology in computer science, engineering and information systems curricula. This competitive grant offers software licenses for Microsoft visual development tools and operating systems in exchange for posting and sharing curricula via the Microsoft Academic Cooperative Web site. Software licenses to be awarded include the Visual FoxPro database development system, Microsoft Office 2000 Developer Edition, the Windows 98 and Windows 2000 Professional operating systems and many more.
