MainXchange, Inc., in conjunction with co-sponsor Junior Achievement, is hosting the Stocks That Rock! competition, a nationwide event that simulates the stock market online at no charge. Using company research and informative lessons that meet curriculum standards of NCTM, NCSS, NCEE, and ISTE, teams of students are able to develop investment strategies and manage portfolios of $100,000 in virtual money. Top teams receive prizes, with the first place award being an all-expense paid trip to Wall Street in New York City. Teachers of grades 5-12 can register for the fall Stocks That Rock! contest now. The fall competition runs from October 16 - December 15, and another contest is scheduled for the spring. For more information, visit www.mainxed.com.

All parents registered with Chancery Software's K12Planet.com school to home community portal will have the ability to order basic back to school supplies through the site's new pilot store. K12Planet offers password-protected access to individual student goals and progress, planning tools and educational resources that show parents and students what's happening each day in the classroom. Based on current student data, K12Planet is able to suggest resources specific to each student. Parents can register on the school's site, click on the recommended supplies for their child, add those items to their shopping cart, then check out. By purchasing supplies through the pilot store, parents are also supporting fundraising for their child's school, as a percentage of every order will be given back to the schools. To visit the site, go to www.K12Planet.com.
