BIBHUTI S. YADAV

Beginning with the Summer, 1983, issue, the name of Bibhuti S. Yadav has appeared among our Associate Editors. His untimely death at 56, on October 10, 1999, has saddened his many colleagues and students around the world. Born in Tulasipur, India, he was educated at Banaras Hindu University, from which he received a B.A. in Sanskrit and philosophy, as well as an M.A. and Ph.D. (1970) in philosophy. He spent a year at McMaster University, then came to Temple University in 1972. As a member of the Dept. of Religion, he also taught at Temple University Japan during 1993-94 and 1996-98. He has published widely in the area of Indian philosophy and served on the editorial boards of a number of journals and foundations. He received Temple University's Distinguished Teaching Award in 1992. A resident of Narberth, PA, he is survived by his mother, brother, and six sisters, all residents of Tulasipur.
