To further research that contributes to advancing quality nursing education, NLN has awarded 10 grants ranging from $1,000 to $10,000. The grantees were introduced at the Third National Faculty Meeting at the NLN Summit 2000 in Nashville.

Recipients of NLN Nursing Education Research grants, which support scholarly work in nursing education, are:

* Dr. Kay Hodson-Carlson, professor of nursing and director of the Learning Resource Center, Ball State University, Muncie, IN, "Reflections on the Role of Faculty in Distance Learning and Changing Pedagogies"; co-investigators Dr. Marilyn Ryan and Dr. Nagia Ali.

* Dr. Carolyn Crow, assistant professor, Capstone College of Nursing at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, "Predictors and Interventions for NCLEX-RN Success in Baccalaureate Nursing Programs: A National Survey"; co-investigators Marilyn Handley, Dr. Ruby Morrison, and Dr. M. Mitch Shelton.

* Dr. Bronwynne Evans, assistant professor, Intercollegiate Center for Nursing Education, Washington State University, Spokane, "Evaluation of Epistemological and Ethical Maturity in Baccalaureate Nursing Students."

* Dr. Pam Ironside, associate professor of nursing, Clarke College, Dubuque, IA, "Developing a Research Base for Nursing Education: Implementing and Evaluating Narrative Pedagogy in an Introductory Nursing Course Using a Multi-Method Approach."

* Dr. Pam Jeffries, assistant professor, Indiana University School of Nursing, Indianapolis, "Technology-based vs. Traditional: A Comparison of Two Instructional Methods to Teach the Skill of Performing a 12-lead ECG."
