Banks Dip a Toe into E-Recruitment

With unemployment continuing its unseasonable lows and demand for good workers at an all-time high, businesses are beginning to rely more on websites to supplement traditional recruiting methods. Forrester Research, for one, is predicting a surge in such sites. But while the websites of some major corporations have the capability to accept electronic resumes, for the majority of small and mid-sized businesses, including many banks, this is not the case.

ABA has for some time hosted an electronic classified section on its website (www.aba.careersite.com) through which both banks and job seekers can find each other. Some banks are considering offering an "e-recruitment" service for their commercial customers. The same company that operates the ABA service, Careersite.com, also provides the service for individual banks. In web parlance, Careersite is an ASP--application service provider, i.e., they host the service for you--one of a number of companies that do this. Some of the more familiar names in the business include Monsterboard.com and Vault.com. But there is a niche for more focused job sites.
