IN MEMORIAM MICHAEL REYNOLDS

The influence of Michael Reynolds on Hemingway studies is incalculable and the whole field of literary scholarship will be much the poorer for the loss of him. Here at the Hemingway Collection we wish to recognize our own debt to him. Professor Reynolds was unwavering in his support of the Collection and his wisdom and advice were crucial to the success of all the important projects and programs undertaken by the Collection. We are deeply grateful for the time and knowledge that he so generously gave. Most of all, however, we are thankful that we had the privilege of seeing such a fine scholar at work.

RESEARCH GRANTS

Five scholars were given Kennedy Library Foundation Hemingway Research Grants for 2000. All grants support research in the Ernest Hemingway Collection at the John F. Kennedy Library.

For his work examining possible occult influences in Islands in the Stream, Mark Bellomo was awarded $900. Mr. Bellomo is a Ph.D. candidate at State University of New York, New Paltz, and his research will be incorporated into his dissertation.

A grant for $2000 was given to Anthony Brand, an independent taurine scholar who is conducting an ongoing study of Hemingway's collection of bullfighting photos. …
