Dear ACEI Members,

This column is the last one I will write as President of the Association for Childhood Education International. Few experiences in my entire life have been so rewarding and so meaningful to me, professionally and personally, as serving in leadership roles with ACEI.

No person succeeds in leadership roles by her or his efforts alone. I have been fortunate to learn from former great Presidents of ACEI, while serving on the Executive Board with them as Member-at-Large and President-Elect. Glen Dixon, Carol Vukelich, Sue Wortham, and Jim Hoot demonstrated the finest examples of leadership. I will have the great privilege of serving with Nancy Quisenberry when she takes office in April and I become Past-President. Working with these former Presidents, their Executive Boards, and the dedicated Headquarters staff has renewed my determination to find other leaders so that ACEI always has a legacy of leadership.

ACEI has the highest concentration of potential leaders worldwide of any organization I know. How do we marshal this leadership strength to accomplish our great mission, lofty goals, and significant plans? We must have dedicated leaders; therefore, this is a call for you to consider taking a leadership role in ACEI. …
