Editor's note: Over the past few years, we have been featuring individual NEHA staff members one-by-one in NEHA News so that you can get to know us a little better. This month, we highlight the new staff member behind extension 337--Toni Marinkovich.

I am the newest member of NEHA's research and development team. Currently, I am working on a cooperative agreement between NEHA and ATSDR to provide a Chemical and Biological Terrorism Preparedness Program for environmental health professionals (see story above). This is an important new training program that promotes disaster preparedness at the local level. With the expertise of an advisory committee composed of NEHA members, we have put together a full-day workshop addressing preparedness issues that could arise out of a chemical or biological terrorist attack. It is my responsibility to coordinate these workshops with local health departments and state environmental health associations.

My educational background is very diversified, which makes me feel quite at home in the environmental health field. …
