This volume marks the end of my four years as Editor of The Journal of Consumer Affairs.

There have been changes during that time. An important change has been the establishment of Associate Editors. The review process has been enhanced by their expertise. Effective August 1, 2001, the new Editor will be in place for Volume 36, Number 1. It has been an enjoyable term of service because of the contributions, efforts, and support of so many:

* The American Council on Consumer Interests has provided the support necessary for a scholarly journal of national stature. Thanks are due the Boards of Directors and Executive Directors, Anita Metzen and Carrie Paden, for their financial and professional support.

* Joyce Jones served as Executive Associate Editor as JCA transitioned to eight Associate Editors, each with expertise in the academic specializations from which JCA receives manuscripts. Joyce's support is recognized and very much appreciated.

* During the four years, one Associate Editor change occurred due to retirement. Thanks are due Keith Bryant, not only for his time and expertise but also for remaining as an Associate Editor twice as long as his original commitment. Thanks, also, to Catherine Zick who made a seamless transition into the role of an Associate Editor.

* Seven Associate Editors have continued in their roles for the three years since Associate Editors were established. The dedication and service of Wen Chem, Jane Kolodinsky, John Kushmen, Michael Mazis, Herbert Rotfeld, Rex Warland, and Jing Xiao are greatly appreciated.

* The Editorial Board has experienced a few changes in its membership; however, most members have served the full four years and some had prior service as reviewers. …
