Dr. Martin H. Levinson has been the book review editor for ETC since 1996. Besides writing book reviews, he has also written articles for ETC, the General Semantics Bulletin, the Verbal Level (the newsletter of the New York Society for General Semantics), and assorted other publications. He is currently the director of PROJECT SHARE, a New York City school-based drug prevention program. He has recently completed a book titled The Drug Problem. A New View Using the General Semantics Approach, Greenwood Press (in press).

Levinson was introduced to general semantics through a continuing education course taught by Harry Maynard at Cooper Union in 1979. An NYU doctoral candidate in education at the time, Levinson became so enthusiastic about the possibilities of using general semantics to help young people think and act more rationally he convinced his dissertation committee to allow him to do experimental research on this topic. Since then he has continued to productively apply the formulations of general semantics in his personal and professional life. …
