Carson, from Los Angeles, California, is majoring in textiles and apparel with a concentration in apparel design. His work has been featured in the Cornell Design League's Annual Fashion Show.

"I really like making garments--taking control, getting something from my mind into the real world to show, doing everything hands-on. My goal is to go to business school to get a general knowledge of good business practice, which many designers don't have. Last summer 1 had an internship with Barney's New York, and lam spending fall 2001 abroad at Central Saint Martins to study fashion design and marketing.

"I believe Cornell has made me a more independent person. I am able to map out plans for my future career by selecting what I want to do and where I want to go.

"Human Ecology gives us a lot of flexibility in our course selection. We are able to take classes that interest us, not just in our major.

"Maggie and I learn from each other. She's really good at apparel construction. I'm good at design and design ideas."
