Finland ACEI Branch Uses 2001 ACEI International Development Fund Award to Hold National Seminar. (Awards and Honors)

On October 26-27, 2001, the Finland ACEI Branch (FACEI) held a national education seminar for over 80 participants. The seminar was primarily funded by the 2001 ACEI International Development Fund Award. In addition to the money from this grant, the Branch received financial assistance and collaboration from their local Department of Teacher Education, as well as from The Reggio Emilia Association.

The first day of the seminar included a presentation from keynote speaker Gunilla Dahlberg, a Swedish professor from the Stockholm Institute of Education. Dahlberg is internationally renowned as an expert in the field of Reggio Emilia pedagogy. Fifteen other speakers were also included in this two-day seminar. These speakers represented various areas of education and spoke on topics relating to early childhood education, special education, and primary through university level education.

A special feature of the FACEI seminar included presentations from three Estonian teacher educators. With the profits from the seminar, the members of FACEI were able to not only pay the travel and accommodations expenses of these presenters, but also to sponsor ACEI memberships for two of the Estonian teachers. …
