Toshiba Becomes Official Sponsor of FIFA World Cup. (Company Round-Up)

Toshiba Corporation has announced that it has become an official sponsor of the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/ Japan [TM] and 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany [TM] and that it will be "Official IT Partner" to FIFA in both competitions.

The FIFA World Cup [TM] has long been the world's biggest single sports event and the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan [TM] will be the 17th competition since the Uruguay finals in 1930. The first FIFA World Cup [TM] of the 21st century, the Korea/Japan finals will also mark the first time this major event has been held in Asia. Toshiba will support the event, and the 2006 FIFA World Cup [TM], as "Official IT Partner," a position that will allow the company to showcase its leading-edge technologies and reinforce its brand image as a provider of IT solutions.

Under its sponsorship agreement with FIFA, Toshiba will support the smooth operation of the FIFA World Cup [TM] with IT-related products, including personal computers and PC servers, and by consulting on modification of the official FIFA World Cup [TM] Web-site. Score updates during game broadcasts will feature the Toshiba logo, and "powered by Toshiba" will appear on the home page of the official FIFA World Cup [TM] Web-site, which will also carry a link to Toshiba's Web-site.
