ABA and the Bankers' Association for Finance and Trade have announced a formal affiliation between the two organizations.

BAFT brings 82 years of international policy advocacy and expertise to ABA. "We could not be more delighted in our plans to establish an affiliation with BAFT, an organization with an outstanding reputation in the international finance arena," said ABA EVP Don Ogilvie. "Having been involved in these issues for nearly a century, BAFT will enhance the ABA's international capabilities."

BAFT, which represents a broad range of internationally active financial institutions and companies that serve the global financial community, provides a forum for analysis, discussion and action among international financial professionals.

"It was clear to the board and our membership that an affiliation with the ABA was the most effective way to invest in BAFT's future," said Steve Bash, president of the BAFT board of directors. "This affiliation provides a great platform for BAFT to broaden and strengthen its advocacy on international policy on behalf of the U.S. banking industry as well as provide a powerful enhancement to our conferences and programs."

ABA has long been involved in international issues. Its membership roster includes the financial institutions in this country that conduct significant international activity, and the association serves as Secretariat for the International Monetary Conference, which brings together the biggest global players each year to discuss issues of common concern and consequence. …
