The Week of the Classroom Teacher for 2002 was a resounding success as ACEI Headquarters worked with the ACEI Archives, governors' offices, and local public school systems to promote the event. Thirteen proclamations from governors around the United States marked the celebration, as did notices in New York Teacher, San Diego Family, and the Maine Science Teachers' Network.

With the cooperation of the Instructional Facilitator for the Visual Arts in the Howard County (Maryland) Public School System, ACEI's written request for student artwork was endorsed and printed in the school calendars. Every school in the county submitted art, from all instructional levels. Portraits in a variety of mediums were selected and the exhibition Portraits of Art Teachers by Their Students was held in the county's Department of Education Gallery through December 2001. Those who helped organize this project considered it "a huge success."

A Howard County Resource Teacher for the Visual Arts helped to select and lay out 23 portraits (from more than 100) to display in the building housing the ACEI Archives during the Week of the Classroom Teacher (May 6-12, 2002). …
