AGPN Division Report

We are still in the infant stages of developing the division. Our purpose is to identify, disseminate, and grow the unique body of knowledge that constitutes the scientific foundation for advanced practice psychiatric-mental health nurses who provide mental health care for adults, the elderly, their families, and communities. We are in the process of developing goals and projects for the division. The primary focus of PPC, which is offered for AGPN division members, is on issues surrounding the mental health care of the adult population.

Grants Available

Two grants for research in psychiatric nursing, each worth $1,000, are available to ISPN members. One of these, the Robert O. Gilbert grant, is limited to child and/or adolescent research and members of the ACAPN division.

The focus of the grants is qualitative or quantitative research; IRB approval must be obtained before release of funds. Investigators must have a master's or a doctorate in nursing or be a student in a nursing graduate program, and apply for only one of the two grants. …
