Hello. This is my first issue as editor of JSGE. For those who have not met me, I am a former classroom teacher, a mother of two gifted teens, and a faculty member in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Georgia. Even though I had been a coeditor of this journal prior to accepting this new post, my responsibilities in that role did not compare with what this job is. In fact, having only been in this position for a few weeks, I have so much more admiration and respect than I had before for all journal editors!

I am not complaining. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have inherited this post from Paula Olszewski-Kubilius, whose great organization skills eased my way. I learned so much from working as coeditors with her, Rena Subotnik, and Marcia Delcourt, but I am still on the upward slope of the learning curve. I am delighted to be working with Joel McIntosh, Jim Kendrick, and Christy Kendrick at Prufrock Press. They have so much energy and so many exciting ideas about continuing to improve the journal, and I am eager to work collaboratively to incorporate these ideas. There is an atmosphere of great creative freedom and encouragement. You've seen one change already-the look of the journal. Please let us know how you like the change in the look of the journal, and if you have any suggestions about it.

We are investigating ways of making the review process for manuscripts more efficient and shorter by converting to an electronic submission and review procedure. We are reconsidering the name of the journal and welcoming additional board members and reviewers. …
