Happy New Year! In this issue we have seven articles addressing such topics as international business issues in China and Russia, Internet in the workplace, new product development, workplace learning, claims associated with layoffs, and the strategic training of employees model.

Ahlstrom, Young, and Nair explain that businesses operating in China must become familiar with its governance structure. A lack of understanding of China's rules and regulations can disrupt business and impair success. In the second article, Kim and Yelkina provide a summary of privatization stages in Russia. They maintain that despite the many problems encountered, the future for privatization seems to be positive. Mirchandani and Motwani address the wide spread problem of Internet abuse in the workplace. They report that while technology allows the tracking of Internet usage, the costs of tracking should be measured against the cost of abuse before adopting this remedy. In the fourth article, Jassawalla and Sashittal advise that new product collaboration teams may not work unless certain changes are made to ensure the team approach is productive. The authors specify some of the needed changes. Gunasekara, in the fifth article, reports on three studies in the Australian public sector where project-based work place learning was successful. …
