This anthology consists of six units and 47 chapters on caring for vulnerable populations and is designed for use in undergraduate and graduate curricula in nursing as well as in the curricula of other disciplines and fields of study. Unit I discusses such concepts as the study of vulnerable people, nature of social justice, social justice in nursing, and cultural competence, resilience, and advocacy for advanced practice nurses. Presented in Units 1I-VI are discussions of various nursing theories and their application to advanced nursing practice; research on care giving beliefs about selected vulnerable populations; practices related to culture traits of various ethnically diverse individuals, groups, and communities; teaching-learning strategies related to professional preparation for working with vulnerable populations; and policy implications regarding literacy, the medically disenfranchised, and public policy processes as they impact vulnerable populations. …
