I am very pleased to present the Spring 2001 issues of College Student Affairs Journal. I believe you will find this issue contains a group of high quality articles covering a very diverse range of topics. There should be something of interest here for nearly everyone. More amazing to me than the range or quality of articles, however, it is the fact that it was ever completed and published.

The past year has been the most difficult of my career, both professionally and personally. On more than one occasion I was sure I had reached my limit in both arenas. On the personal side I lost my wife and colleague, Dr. Vicki Bowman, after a six year struggle against cancer. She was a loving wife and mother, as well as a gifted and dedicated colleague. Her absence is keenly felt by her students and has left a terrible void in our preparation program. Professionally, this year has seen teaching overloads and extra work commitments that have stretched me further than I thought I could go. And so it is not surprising that the journal was occasionally put on a back burner. …
