Everyone has their own mix of strengths and weaknesses. A task that motivates one person to do a great job is the task that someone else would find a struggle.

Our motivation - or lack of it also plays a key role in our personal development. It is much easier to help someone improve their performance in an area that they already enjoy and where they show aptitude, than to focus your combined effort on a role or a task within the team for which they have no appetite and no apparent ability.

The first stage in orchestrating team strengths is to understand and share the way different team members behave, the skills they bring to the team and the roles they prefer (consciously or unconsciously) to occupy.
