A national case study of the alignment of education from kindergarten through the baccalaureate degree has been sponsored by the State Higher Education Executive Offices (SHEEO). California is slated to host a K-16 case study discussion January 24-25, 2002 in Sacramento cohosted by the California Postsecondary Education Commission (OPEC) and Governor Gray Davis' Office of the Secretary for Education.

Invited representatives from California's organizations working with K-16 education programs and initiatives and leaders of national education organizations from California as well as other states will be involved in the January discussion. The purpose of the conversations is to improve the state's ability to prepare all students to their fullest potential; sponsors believe appropriate preparation in the early years of education all the way through college is key to accomplishing their goal, according to Kerry Mazzoni, California secretary for education. …
