Dear Readers:

It is a pleasure and an honor to send you this volume of the Journal of Corporation Law, which contains the articles and essays from a live symposium paying tribute to Robert C. Clark's treatise, CORPORATE LAW. Many of you know Bob Clark through that book and other scholarly works. Others know him as the Dean of Harvard Law School from 1989-2003. At the symposium, everyone had the chance to renew their acquaintance with Bob and benefit from his comments on the works that appear in completed form in this volume of the Journal. He offers further ideas in the essay he authored. I want to thank him for agreeing to allow us to focus the symposium on his book and to use it as a springboard for further thought about corporate and securities law.

The volume begins with an introduction by Ronald J. Gilson and Reinier H. Kraakman, who co-hosted the symposium. Their work in helping to organize and plan the symposium was invaluable. …
