RTDE Readers:

This edition of Research and Teaching in Developmental Education marks the beginning of a new era. It is an honor for the New York College Learning Skills Association to sponsor the publication and we welcome Mary Ellen Mulvey as the new editor, Patricia Galeza as assistant editor and Deborah Ceppaglia as the bibliographic editor. With the announcement of a new editor it means that we bring to a close another era, as Patricia Malinowski ends her 16 year term as either co-editor or editor.

It has been the Executive Board's pleasure to have had Pat overseeing RTDE over the years. She nurtured the growth and success of a prestigious publication during her tenure. It is wonderful to hear accolades not only from our membership but from people in the field from across the country. Pat spent many hours tweaking the publication, seeking input for articles from all areas in developmental education. She encouraged the development of guest columns to broaden participation from people practicing in the field. The incorporation of reviews of current books and articles also expanded the coverage provided by the journal. Through these efforts Pat encouraged those in the field to continue their professional growth not just by receiving and reading the RTDE journal, but by contributing to its pages. This opportunity for many to be able to be published in a recognized journal has aided the field as well as the individual authors. …
