Sheila V. Adams, EdD, RN, dean of the College of Nursing and SpeechLanguage Pathology at Mississippi University for Women, Columbus, was named School of Nursing Administrator of the Year for the state of Mississippi. The Department of Nursing was named School of Nursing of the Year,

Michelle A. Beauchesne, DNSc, RN, associate professor and coordinator of the pediatric nurse practitioner program in the School of Nursing, Bouvé College of Health Sciences at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, was awarded an honorary doctorate from Buckinghamshire Chiltern University College in High Wycombe, England. She has been a visiting professor and consultant to the health studies faculty at BCUC since 1999 and has contributed to the development of a nurse practitioner program approved by the Royal College of Nursing. She also facilitates an international nursing exchange program for undergraduate and graduate nursing students.

Garrett Chan, PhD, APRN, BC-PCM, CEN, is the recipient of the 2007 Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association New Investigator Award, which recognizes a nurse at the beginning of his or her research career who has performed superior research advancing the field of hospice and palliative care. Dr. Chan is assistant clinical professor in the Critical Care/Trauma Graduate Program at the University of California San Francisco School of Nursing.

Susan Cooper, MSN, RN, former faculty member and assistant dean for practice atVanderbilt University School of Nursing, Memphis, was named commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Health, the first registered nurse to hold this position. She first joined the state government in 2005 as a health adviser and was instrumental in developing Tennessee's Health Care Safety Net

Julie A. Fairman, PhD, RN, FAAN, Class of 1940 Bicentennial Term Associate Professor of Nursing and director of the Barbara Bates Center for the Study of the History of Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, was awarded the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Investigator Award in Health Policy Research. …
