When Steven Beasley and Dick Knowdell asked me to be the Guest Editor of the Book Review issue of the Career Planning and Adult Development Journal, I was thrilled. What an honor to be able to coordinate a team of professionals reviewing the "latest and greatest" career books to hit the market over the past few years! I've had a wonderful time reading and editing all of the reviews, and getting a glimpse into all 50+ books selected for this edition. In fact, I have already compiled the list of books that I plan to read over the next year! I hope that you too will find a wealth of materials that you are likely to read, study, and review over the next year.

Having the opportunity to "give back" to the careers community was another plus of this project for me. I strive in many ways to give back to the community at large, to my neighbors, my friends, and my colleagues. This journal was the perfect vehicle for doing such, allowing me to volunteer my time and deliver a product that is a valuable resource for all of you - my colleagues and my friends. I hope that as you read through all of these reviews, you are able to pick up nuggets of wisdom that will help you be an even better coach, counselor, resume writer, HR professional, workforce development specialist, entrepreneur, and more.

All of us in the careers industry are in such a unique position in today's work world. Through our efforts, our expertise, our leadership, and our support, we are able to guide job seekers and employees to find greater satisfaction and fulfillment in their working lives. There are few other professions that have the power that ours does, and I remind myself daily of the impact that I can have on the lives of others. …
