There are times when those of us working on the IFOTS journal burn the midnight oil to ensure that the issue comes out on time. Why? Well, because it is no small feat to communicate across language barriers, cultural norms, and time zones to get all articles reviewed and accepted, then edited and printed. What makes these tasks such a joy is that those of us behind the scenes are privy to the passion that goes into each piece.

You see, the Forum is not simply another publishing venue in the field of education; the Forum is like a bustling, lively, ever-changing market place of old; authors are the vendors that come from far away places to show their wares in the hope of engaging in some discussion that will give new insights and improve on their "product." The authors openly display their thoughts and experiences in a spirit of sharing.

Each of this edition's pieces sports a background of amazing complexity: we learn about freedom of speech and expression in the USA context and read about training police in the Chinese environment; we imagine the impact of creativity on healing cancer patients and read of the value of service-learning in emerging economies; we walk with teachers in an everyday classroom to serve diverse learners and we marvel with the authors about new technologies that improve tele-communciations. …
