This book gives a career counselor a great step-by-step approach to assisting people with their career choices. It would be a great learning tool for those just starting their coaching careers or those who have been in the profession for years.

The top five things you learned from reading this book:

How to stay up-to-date on new information in the field. The structure for conducting a group workshop. How to use just one hour with a client to find out what they are looking for in a career. Five business cards instead of one was an interesting approach for different consumers. Helping the impossible client.

What a great book this is, encompassing many of the aspects of career counseling. I can see where this book would be a big help to our job-training representatives and resource counselors. This book offers excellent advice for a beginner in the field of career counseling or for a seasoned counselor. This book has something for everyone, new and old counselors alike. There is a wealth of information on the history of career counseling which I found very educational and believe that this information would be valuable to all counselors. There is good advice on working with groups and managing career counseling in a group setting, along with the do's and don'ts of room and facility arrangement. …
