Classical Music Review is the work of two writers, Tony Gualtieri and Michael McDonagh. Of all the sites reviewed here, this one is the most idiosyncratic in scope. Although no statement is provided by the authors about their intent, they have clearly concentrated on music of interest to them without any attempt to be comprehensive. Of the ninety-eight CD reviews currently on the site, many of them are of twentiethcentury music; most of the rest is a smaller selection of music from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. While some of the repertoire is solidly part of the mainstream, the site is distinctive for its coverage of lesser known composers, especially contemporary ones. Some of the names new to me include Henry Brant, Christiaan DeJong, Christos Hatzis, and Lior Navok. Even reviews of canonic composers tend to focus on lesser known pieces. …
