This book provides a thoughtful and dense treatment of the topic of adolescent sexuality. The first section provides essays on various topical areas of adolescent sexuality. The second section provides the historical documents related to the essay content of the authors of the first section. The third and final section provides an extensive bibliography. Overall, this book is well done and provides a handy collection of knowledge and history. One disappointing aspect of this book was the tendency of authors to focus their attention on sexuality as it relates to white adolescents. Given that the book cover pictured two AfricanAmerican teens, I thought the essays would present a more diverse set of understandings of adolescent sexuality. Given that limitation, the first and third sections of the book are the value of this book. The second section of historical documents felt very repetitive and unnecessary as most of the authors cited and referred to the historical material in their essays.

My review focuses on the first five chapters of the book. The first chapter of the book presents an essay on trends and theories of adolescent sexuality from Ancient Greece through the present. …
