This issue of the Journal of Business & Entrepreneurshipcontoins a variety of papers addressing several important areas that most readers should find to be pertinent. The first of these, authored by Hyman, is a retrospective which provides an overview of the status of the JBE from its inception to the present time. This is followed by a theoretical contribution by Carland and Carland which offers some unique insights into the nature of entrepreneurship.

Chawla, Pullig, and Alexander furnish an interesting discussion of critical success factors, considered from an organization life cycle perspective. This is followed by a discussion by McGee and Finney on competing against retailing giants, in light of distinctive marketing competencies. Next comes Caldarola's discussion on generating competitive advantage in small business.

Siegel, Mosca, and Karim follow with a presentation of the impact of flexible work hours on organizational commitment and job satisfaction. Next Lee and Rogoff discuss the effects of education on entrepreneurship through a dual path model. …
