What was your first job ever?

I worked at the A and W drive-in restaurant in my home town of Grand Falls, Newfoundland. I was 15 years old.

Describe your first job in libraries.

I started volunteering at the school library over 11 years ago.

If you weren't a librarian/library worker, what would you be? Why?

Before getting married and moving to Germany, I was an Environmental Health inspector with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. I enjoyed my job very much but was unable to do it here because of the language barrier. I discovered the school and the library and never looked back.

Who has been a big inspiration/influence on your library career?

The two librarians I worked for, Mr. John Royce and Mr. Stuart Crouch, influenced me a great deal. They taught me so much and I still learn from them both today.

Name one person you admire (outside of libraries) and explain why.

I admire a student named Soo-Hyun, a Korean national who came into ISH in 2006 with no English speaking whatsoever. …
