From Friuli Friuli

Article excerpt

Two

become

one

One

becomes

flower

One

dies

well

One

becomes

moon

One

road becomes

A house

turns

into a house

Twice

Easters

on cheeks

In all four

directions

suns rise

With four marble-playing

children the sun rolls and is

glass

A house

melts

to a speck

A village melts

and makes itself anew and changes and the same

into the plain

The slaughter

on the Isonzo ends and

is and is

The battle in Friuli

appears fades

appears ends begins

"monti della guerra azzurini"

these are war's bright-blue mountains

in this day's early light

The bright-blue rhythmic mountains

in this morning shine

and a speck of blue on the cliff

And

fire villages

in the sky

NATO-yes

is

here

A man stands in front of mountains

and Bosnia and

is like nothing and appears

A valley

for Bosnia and Herzegovina

and Easters

A man

and lines

on his body

Man

and arms

and moon

The face is Easter

(and host)

The man goes into the

Easters of

trees streams scents fields hills

In the inn

the Easter is

served to me

Someone

cries words

each says Easter

Can look

across the mountains

into Austria

Then I leap

into the car

driving is Easters and moonflight

In fingertips is

Easter

Easters Istrija Ister stars first

easts Bosna Austria rays orients

places on stone cliffs

I sense

somethig speak

(a ray)

I sense something on my

cheek that I

do not know

Easter as

and I do

not know

I show

up on

a star

There are the

blue

rays of iris

And reflection and games

of nearby trees

There are no

houses but houses houses

appear and play

And a

road has

no effect

South of Nimis

is the

first world Vienna Nimis, 1998
