Dan Damon states in the Foreword of this collection: "There are no quick fixes here, but a heart held open to our Creator in love and praise. Barbara is a singer, and these hymns do sing." Hamm shares her gift for melody as well as her use of descriptive, meaningful words. Hamm has served for more than twentyfive years as a church music director and a "partner musician" in both the Disciples of Christ and United Church of Christ annual meetings in the Northern California and Nevada area. She has also conducted workshops and retreats on the music of Taizé responses and on new congregational music.
