Economically, it is impossible to make everyone equal and rich, but it is possible to make everyone equal and poor. To earn a reward, financial or psychological, is an incentive for working hard, as a human instinct. The Russian experiment is vivid proof. In western democracies, a country's prosperity depends on having enough wealthy tax payers to boost their economy and also to care for the poor fellow citizens. As a criticism and disagreement are both valuable tools in learning science, I found this book very interesting to read because the author holds an opposite view.

Dr Theodore Macdonald strongly argues in this book that the major cause of ill health is not bacteria and viruses, or even war and natural disasters, but poverty. He suggests that if we could solve the immensely complex problems of global inequalities in wealth, the health inequalities would largely vanish. …
