This Spring 2002 issue represents the start of the fifth year of publication for the New England Journal of Entrepreneurship, and we begin the year with two exciting announcements. We are pleased to announce that NEJE is now included in the Global and Research editions of ABI/INFORM. In addition, NEJE has also been accepted for the 9th edition of Cabell's Directory. These announcements will insure that articles in NEJE get the attention and citations they deserve.

Our current issue breaks new ground by introducing the new field of "sport entrepreneurship." Sport entrepreneurship is a dynamic area, and we plan to devote a "Special Focus" edition to sport entrepreneurship in Spring 2003. We had originally scheduled the Special Focus issue on sport entrepreneurship for Spring 2002, but delayed it for a year because the field was simply too new. The current issue gives readers a brief introduction to the field, and a sample of things to come. Jim Santomier, who will be the Special Focus editor, provides an overview of sport entrepreneurship in his announcement of the Special Focus issue. We include one article on sport entrepreneurship that compares different entrepreneurial strategies of German soccer clubs. The issue also contains a review of a current book on sport entrepreneurship-Peak Performance: Business Lessons from the World's Top Sports Organizations.

The issue includes an article that compares IPO performances of emerging and nonemerging industries; an article that covers the future of women's entrepreneurship; and an article on the international expansion of new business ventures. …
