This book details the work undertaken as part of the author's PhD thesis at Utrecht University. The principal aim is to provide a multielemental overview of the composition of topsoil and soil parent material of The Netherlands. The work is based on c. 1000 soil samples taken at an average sampling density of c. 1 sample per 70km^sup 2^. The results of the geochemical survey are included on an accompanying CD-Rom that presents all of the soils data, plus summary statistics and spatial concentration maps for over 40 elements. The book and CD are an excellent reference work for anyone undertaking physical geography fieldwork in The Netherlands, or indeed anyone wanting to source a multi-elemental soil dataset.
