Arising from a conference in April 2007, this volume brings together a collection of articles on that very medieval concept: suite. It is an area of study that does not receive enough attention and, as such, Nathalie Koble's finely edited volume, concentrating on the Merlin en prose, is a welcome addition to existing knowledge and scholarship. Carefully structured into four areas of study, the volume contains some very useful articles and even a couple of illuminating articles that, as well as being insightful in their own right in terms of Merlin, manage to elucidate the more general nature of the cyclicity of Arthurian romance. Particularly worth noting in this respect is Patrick Moran's 'Le meilleur des mondes arthuriens possibles' which unravels the historical genesis of Arthurian cycles. …
