What was your first job ever?

My first job ever was working for a mom/pop pizza restaurant when I was 15. I did everything from cooking to serving to entire shifts of dishwashing. I was told to consider the steam as a facial.

Describe your first job in libraries.

This is my first job in a library. The position requires me to be highly motivated to meet with my patron base, which consists of all health care professionals in the health region. I also manage my own time and do everyday things such as cataloguing, reference questions, and literature searches. No two days are completely alike as I have a wide variety of tasks to complete.

If you weren't a librarian/library worker, what would you be? Why?

If I wasn't working in a library I would likely still be working in a service industry, such as restaurants and retail. Most likely I would be going back to school and doing a masters in psychology or attending a college program that would teach actual skills for the workplace. University was a great first step, but lacks quite a lot when it comes to the workplace and finding a sustainable career.

Who has been a big inspiration/influence on your library career?

I cannot name a single person, but I would have to say it would be my Dad who took me to the library as a child as many times as I wanted to go. My parents always encouraged me to do what I enjoyed. Books satisfied this need, and the environment at various public libraries (including the staff) greatly influenced my love of the location. …
