This book is the long-awaited update to the groundbreaking Health Promotion in Canada: Provincial, National and International Perspectives published in 1994. And while an eventful decade has passed since the first edition, a careful reading of this book proves that it was well worth the wait.

For this book is much more than an update. Written by a veritable "who's who" of academics, policy-makers and practitioners throughout Canada and to a lesser degree internationally, the book provides a critical appraisal on how health promotion is practised in Canada and how this links to what is happening in the rest of the world. The book strives for inclusiveness, making a deliberate effort to include a diverse range of younger and more experienced voices into the dialogue. And, it is extremely well written.
