Creative Nursing 2008 presented nurses' experiences of their calling to the profession, explored nursing's links to social justice, reported on coaching for professional success, and highlighted nurses in unique roles and settings around the world. If this current issue of Creative Nursing is the first you've seen, we hope your plans include a subscription to our electronic version, which includes access to our on-line archive.

You are invited to join us-as readers and as writers-for Creative Nursing 2009. Our four issues this year have the overarching theme of time: how we perceive it; how we use it; and the effect of time constraints on the care we give as well as on our work lives and our personal lives. This issue on work complexity could be subtitled "Doing More in Less Time."

Our second issue, due out in May, is about resources (including time management, staffing and scheduling systems, and teamwork initiatives) that help us manage complexity and cope with the increasing demands on our time. Our guest editor for the second issue is Dori Taylor Sullivan, associate dean for academic affairs at Duke University School of Nursing in Durham, North Carolina. All our material is complete for this issue.

Our third issue, due out in August, with a deadline of April 1, is "A Day in the Life of a Patient." We interact with our patients for brief periods of time (the word currently in vogue is "encounters"), but our patients are who they are 24/7/365. They are moving through time, living their lives, and our calling is to meet them where they are. Guest editor for this issue is Lori Steffen, assistant professor in the Intercollegiate Nursing Consortium at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota.

The fourth issue, due out in November with a deadline of August 1, is called "New Science. …
