Article excerpt

As this spring 2009 issue of JCRL goes to press, my term, as editor ends. I want to recognize and thank the stellar team that has published the journal for the past three years. Dr. Beth Moreno and Mr. Ed Fernandez, staff members at the University of Texas-Austin Learning Center, have served ably as Managing Editors, reviewing manuscripts and making copy editing decisions on every issue as well as communicating with indexing services, libraries, and advertisers. Mr. Lewis Madhlangobe, the doctoral research assistant who has been my right-hand, has made incredible contributions by managing and organizing manuscript submissions and communicating with authors as manuscripts progress to publication. Mr. Martin Cocking at EMCEE Communications and Ms. Susan Frentz at the University of Texas-Austin Print Shop have worked wonders with layout and printing. The members of the Editorial Board make the journal the excellent publication it is, and I appreciate their hard work and willing service in reviewing manuscripts under tight deadlines. I am likewise grateful for the support of the CRLA Executive Board and officers who offer sound guidance on publication policy and make the journal publication possible. And, ultimately, I appreciate the authors who chose to submit their work to be published in JCRL.

The focus of JCRL reflects the focus of CRLA, that of preparing students to meet the demands of college reading and learning. …
