Staying Upbeat During The Downtimes of a Job Search

Too many downsized workers lose the motivation to fight the four-level battle of looking for work, coping with their emotions, and finding ways to manage their time and control their finances. This is especially true for people who have been job hunting for longer than a couple of months without much success. Getting through the tough times in a job search requires optimism, enthusiasm, creativity, risk-taking, and a belief that your efforts, if continued, will pay off with a new job. The following information will give you few insights into how to beat the rejection blues and stay upbeat during the downtimes of your job search.

Don't Allow Negative Self-Talk

"I'm not very good at..." Negative statements tend to overshadow positive thoughts.

Use Positive Affirmations Daily

Start each day with a positive statement, such as: "One more no brings me closer to yes."

Don't Use "I Can't" Excuses

Reframe "I can't do this." to "I can do this if I ..." or "If I try what's the worst that can happen?"

Use A Check Off To Do List
