P. Renee Williams, PhD, RN, ICCE, assistant professor of nursing and Director of Continuing Education at The University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Nursing has been appointed as an American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) Accreditation Program Appraiser for a two year term: 2009 -2011.

The Charles C. and Sallie Tucker-Allen family was selected as the Black Family of the Year and so honored at the annual Black Family Conference held at Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. Dr. William Harvey, president of Hampton University made the award on March 12, 2008.

Linda Thompson Adams, DrPH, RN, FAAN, co-authored a commentary published in the July/ August 2008 issue of Nursing Outlook entitled, "Information Technology Core Competencies: From Now to Tomorrow." Dr. Adams is dean and professor of the School of Nursing at Oakland University in Rochester, MI.

Jacquelyn Campbell, Phyllis Sharps, and Nancy Glass, professors at Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing located in Baltimore, Maryland, co-authored an article entitled, "Prior Domestic Violence is the Major Risk Factor for Intimate Partner Homicide" which was published in Trauma, Violence & Abuse in July 2007.

Willa Doswell, PhD, RN, FAAN, serves on the Editorial Board of Nursing Outlook. Dr. Doswell is professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA.

Karethy (Kay) Edwards, DrPh5ARNP-BC, professor and codirector of the Center for Cultural Competency & Healthcare Excellence at the School of Nursing, University of Oklahoma Health Science Center in Oklahoma City, OK, has been awarded a $400,000 Native Americans Diabetes Prevention Grant from the National Institute of Aging. …
