With convenient Internet technology, people possess a powerful tool to obtain health care information. With this ubiquitous information, patients play a more active role than ever before in the health care system, such as taking control of their own health with a wide variety of choices of medical treatment. How to adapt to this transformed patient and physician relationship owing to different health care delivery is an important issue in this e-health age.

The authors state the components that can facilitate health care delivery. Through this e-health service, patients can get online to self-educate and learn how to manage their condition through a web-based physician/ patient interaction system that can save time and office visits. They also can ask questions through e-mail, which can decrease misunderstanding by rushed telephone conversations. Physicians can decrease medical errors by the clinical decision support system, avoid the unnecessary paperbased formalities, and improve the quality of care.

The authors indicate that the concept of "Bank of Health" would be a trend in the future e-health market, in which one can store personal health information and retrieve or share personal health information. …
