We are pleased to present a special topical issue on institutional effectiveness and assessment of student learning outcomes. The emphasis on accountability and tracking institutional performance as well as the interest on defining and measuring student learning outcomes have continued to be at the forefront at public higher education policy and accreditation standards throughout the country.
