This is a very valuable CD-ROM released by Church PubUshing to enable psalm singing for the Revised Common Lectionary. It has been prepared in this new edition (i.e., a complete revision of the 1980 version by Richard Crocker) by Bruce E. Ford, who is assistant director for access services at the Newark PubUc Library in New Jersey, and who contributed extensively to The Hymnal 1982 and to its Companion. First of all, this is not a CD for Ustening, rather for inserting in the CD-ROM drive of a computer, for it includes musical files and text. Upon opening the CDROM one finds the foUowing files and folders: (1) How To Use This CD-ROM.html, (2) Editor's Introduction.pdf, (3) Lectionary Listing.pdf, (4) Congregational Refrains folder, and (5) PDFs folder.

(1) Provides very helpful instructions on how to negotiate the use of the EPS, PDF, and TIFF files that are found on the CD-ROM. For example, one is given instructions on how to move an antiphon setting in one of the formats direcdy into a service buUetin.

(2) Here one finds helpful tips on the use of psalmody in the Uturgy and very clear and useful comments on the pointing of the psalms, with numerous examples and appropriate psalm tones. The suggestions to singers and choir directors wiU enhance psalm singing whether in smaU or large congregations. …
