Terry Valiga Elected to the Academy Dr. Terry Valiga, NLN Director of Research and Professional Development, will be inducted as a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing on November 2. One of 73 new fellows to be inducted in 2002, she joins others from the NLN who are already Academy members: President Eileen Zungalo; President-elect Joyce Murray; Joyce Fitzpatrick, editor of Nursing Education Perspectives; Mary Anne Rizzolo, Associate Director of Research and Professional Development; and Nancy Langston, immediate past president and chair of the NLN Foundation for Nursing Education.

Prior to Joining the staff in 1999, Dr. Valiga was a member of the NLN Blue Ribbon Panel for Priorities in Nursing Education Research, which established a national research agenda for nursing education. She was honored by the NLN with the Isabel Stewart Award, presented to a creative and inspirational teacher for students from diverse backgrounds, and she received a Sigma Theta Tau Founders Award for Excellence in Nursing Education. She has been a vice president of both Sigma Theta Tau, International, and the interdisciplinary honor society Phi Kappa Phi.
