As a leader of an organisation, and as one who tries to use the coaching style of leadership, I was eager to read this book. I am also a trained 'executive coach' and thought I might learn a little more from Jane Renton about coaching.

From the outset I can say that this book was an easy and enjoyable read, but as a coach, I did not learn much about coaching and how to improve my skill or knowledge base. It soon became clear this is not a book for coaches - but it is about coaches; it does deliver what it says in the title, I would suggest this is a book aimed at leaders and managers who may be using, or considering the use of, coaches and mentors in their organisations.

The author gives a good overview of coaching and mentoring; she actually lists some of the significant players n the hela ard tv i\ Ps î'iey adopt She asks if coaches and/or mentors actually make a difference to a business and if the difference can be identified in results, be they qualitative or quantitative. …
